Aradhna Gupta - Ruchika's friend, eye witness to the molestation and torchbearer of the case - has launched a website Justice4Ruchika.com on Valentine's Day to commence her next battle. The website is a platform where people from all walks of society can come together to create awareness, educate and eventually help prevent child abuse. They have a law panel to give advice to victims and fight their cases for free and helplines that'll connect with NGOs across India.
A blog post from Aradhna:
Won’t give up!
Sunday, February 14th, 2010
Just reflecting back on what happened to Ruchika on that ruinous day when she got molested by Rathore, and what all she went thru’ in the next couple of years to follow, until she finally ended up taking her own life. At 18 years of age, when we all are ready to go meet LIFE, ….Ruchika was giving it up.
The state governments, the central governments, the investigating agencies, the courts, and all the leaders who we elected as protectors of our civil rights and liberty took their sweet time to deal with this case. And finally after 450 hearings, and perhaps after running out of all possible reasons for anymore delays, they came up with the verdict…… Six months imprisonment, and a financial punishment of one thousand rupees!
The convict walks out of the court with a big smile on his face, mocking and raping the legal system and everybody affected once again!
Some questions keep coming to my mind.
· What kind of society are we living in?
· What kind of democracy it is?
· What kind of leadership and governance this is?
· What kind of Law and Order Agencies do we have?
· How do we as a society value Woman and their rights?
· What kind of India it is?
I have 2 small children, and my daughter is about 4 years old. I am afraid that she will start understanding the news and our talk shows very soon,……And I am scared that she will be asking me these questions in a few years, …….and I am worried that I don’t have any good answers to give to her.
Are you Worried too?………Do you have answers for your kids?
I do not know if there’s a magic solution to all these problems,
I do not know how long will it take to fix this situation, OR
whether I will be able to see the change in my lifetime.
But I know one thing for sure………….
I do not accept this!…..and I will do something about it.

Crusade-for-justice supports genuine grass root initiatives targeted at safeguarding children’s rights.
Vision : To make this world a safer place for our children.
Objectives : We are going to set up an organisation that will work for creating awareness on these issues, educate people on relevant laws, advise them on how to fight with the corrupt system and provide useful resources for the same.
Please join Crusade-for-Justice, and “be a Crusader".

Ruchika's case hurts and it will continue doing so till we wake up to the fact that rape is murder- killing the very being of an innocent girl, who may keep breathing but is dead within.
ReplyDeleteGandhi, by moving the masses could get freedom for the country. We, too can spread awareness and nip this crime in the bud.
Mr. Bisht has already joined the movement by making us aware of the courageous crusade of Aradhana.Thank you, Sir, you are indeed doing a great service to mankind, especially innocent victims who look up to us for justice.
We are all with you, Aradhana, with all our might- body, mind and soul.
