STORY OF LAXMIBAI

Targeting woman through micro finance has proved to be a successful and efficient economic development tool

Laxmibai Kelabag aged about 37 years was married 19 years before with Snesh kumar kelabag resident of village Newton block Parasia Dist, Chhindwara. Snesh kumar is patient of epilepsy and hence is unable to do any work. Laxmibai has two children, She wanted to educate them but due to husband inability to earn and poverty their schooling was discontinued. The in laws also didn’t help her .

Laxmibai was working as farm laborer for her families livelihood, She was unable to get work throughout the year and as such many times.Her children had to sleep without food. She then along with other four women formed JLG and availed help from small finance scheme.

Micro Finance Branch Bhopal sanctioned loan to Vikas Samiti Chhindwara for on-lending to SHGs /JLGs .Vikas samiti provided them training for tailoring. After the training Vikas samiti provided them Rs. 7000/- loan under small finance scheme to purchase stitching machine and raw materials per members, Now Laxmibai is earning about Rs. 3000 to 4000 per month . She is regular in paying loan installments. Children of Laxmi bai are now going to school and getting food they are happy today.Putting extra income in women’s hands is the most efficient way of affect an entire family.
