Saving A Little Child

CITIZENSHIP MOMENT SHARED BY SHRI VIJAY KUMAR DUBEY, STATE BANK OF INDORE, DEPALPUR BRANCH DURING CITIZENSHIP ORIENTATION PROGRAMME AT SBLC, INDORE

In the year 1996, I along with my colleague Mr Pyasi visited Indrapuri Colony, Indore to meet an executive, who was constructing University campus, for deposit mobilization.

During our discussion with the executive we heard a cry made by a boy “Fire! Fire!” from a flat in the same apartment in which we were meeting. The 13 year old boy found fire in a nearby flat in the same apartment. We immediately rushed to the ground floor where we found that flame was coming out from a flat. We made a request to the other residents and they immediately provided us some buckets, pipes and water from their flats. We could stop the fire from further loss.

Inside the flat, we found a one-and-a-half year old boy. Although he had some light burns, we could save his life. There were 3 dead bodies inside the flat.

In the instant case, some miscreants entered the house and killed the house owner, his wife and a daughter aged 13 years and put the one-and-a-half year old boy in a bucket containing water, his legs up and head drowned. When the boy was struggling the bucket tilted and fell in to the floor and thus he escaped. But the miscreants also set ablaze the house.

Whenever I remember that incident, I get lot of inner fullness thinking about the help we could provide to the residents, especially the little child.
