Shri Gulji Khan, Guard, from our Nagda Branch, Ujjain , is the proud father of three children, all National level players of skating!
His eldest son, Mohd.Idulkhan is 19 years old, is doing his Engineering and has won the Rashtrapati Award along with a National award in skating. His daughter, Aarzoo Khan, 16 years old, is also a National Award winner in skating and is also SGFI attendant for the last two years.
The third child, a daughter, Aisha Khan, needs special mention as she was born with deformed legs and at the tender age of six years underwent a surgery to correct it. Her doctor took upon himself to operate the child and had assured Shri Gulji, that until the child is able to walk, he will not charge him for the surgery. She started moving her legs at the age of seven years and on date she has been a National Player for two years! She is 13 years old today.
Shri Gulji attributes the success in his life to his dear wife, Serajbi, whose constant struggle and service to the family has borne fruits. Shri Gulji admits he only gave money to his family and his wife did the rest. All that Shri Gulji and his family knew were to make positive contribution for their own growth and for the society.
It is easy to overlook the common man and his family, as most of us would love to be seen and counted among the rich, reputed and powerful. But it is Mother Nature who treats her creation equally. She casts her favors equally on all and though the circumstances may differ, it is the mindset that can turn an adversity into a blessing! And mindset is the power within all of us, no matter how common or special we are. And it is this use of the power that makes a special man out of a common man.
The common man day in and day out faces life squarely, with his limited means and a number of problems, but with a positive mindset, and emerges a winner the end of the day, without even a pat on his back!
Can we look around for the common man within and without us and generously give a positive stroke, thus spreading the feel good factor around us? We are then living on the being level and yes, Mother Nature would feel proud of us, her children, for being just like her!
