WHEN I LEND A HELPING HAND ....
A Citizen Moment From Jaipur
About 16 years ago I was AS to DGM at Delhi Zonal office. A proposal was pending in our office for enhancement of limit of one party from Rs 25.00 lacs to Rs 1.20 crores. Those were the days of Conventional Banking, so naturally this proposal was a big one hence its processing was taking time. However, the party was keen to get the loan immediately as they didn’t want to delay setting up of new project. One day the party came to meet DGM and due to delay did some hot talks. As a consequence, the proposal could not be taken up further.
In my opinion the proposal and project was sound, so I took initiative and discussed with DGM that if we may go on the viability of the project, ignoring the party’s behaviour which was actually driven by desperation and frustration most of us are opt to do so in these circumstances. The DGM was a nice person, considering the merits of the Project, he sanctioned the loan. Naturally, the party was happy and thanked me, saying that I had helped them in a selfless way and I can call on them for any matter in which they could be of help. Fortunately, the new project was a success and after some years Sh Tyagi ji (the party) handed over the management to his sons. He asked them to give him Rs. 2.00 lacs per month, out of which he would utilize Rs. 50,000/ for his personal expenses and rest for welfare of needy.
There was a Christian maid working in my house, she had three children. Sadly, her husband expired on Christmas day. This was the great shock for the lady, she was very much worried about the upbringing of her children. At that time I remembered Mr. Tyagi, I talked to him about the maid and her problems. Sh, Tyagi readily agreed to help her. Since then Sh Tyagi was taking care of children till they were grown up and arranged when one of the children had to undergo surgery for hole in the heart. Sh. Tyagi took care of all this. Now, I have come to know that Sh. Tyagi has expired due to cancer.
I feel that even one selfless and kind act can do wonders to others and it starts a chain reaction of such acts.
