HOMILY ON 'SURRENDER'

From The Heart Of A Newly Ordained Priestess
And the homily continued, ".......Victory comes through surrender. Surrender does not weaken you; it strengthens you. The greatness of a man's power is in the measure of his surrender. Everybody surrenders to something or someone. You surrender to the opinions or expectations of others, to money, to resentment, to fear or to your own pride, lusts or ego. Surrender is not the best way to live; it is the only way to live. Nothing else works. All other approaches lead to frustration and disappointment. It is not a foolish emotional impulse but a rational, intelligent act, the most responsible and sensible thing you can do......"
I wasn't listening anymore....my thoughts raced back to 'Citizenship'....I thought... 'we are free to choose what we surrender to, but we are not free from the consequences of that choice. Yet, we can surrender all.. our past regrets, our present problems, our future ambitions, our fears, dreams, weaknesses, habits, hurts and hang-ups? Can we dwell on another's fears, dreams, weaknesses, etc. rather than our own? Can we ease another's hurts and hang-ups? I know it may mean doing inconvenient, unpopular or seemingly impossible tasks. But that, indeed would be termed "positive contribution"! And the consequences visualised!
I am sure then, Bisht, even in times of crisis, we would never feel a void. We would definitely be richer enjoying bountiful inner fruits for creating genuine happiness for others. Your article has indeed, touched me! All the very best to you....and to us all who have chosen to be CITIZENS!
Let me share what I feel now.... I feel like a newly ordained priestess!
